What payment methods can clients use?

Clients can pay using credit or debit cards from Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. Payments can be made through digital invoices, online intake forms, QR codes on printed invoices, or directly via the client portal.

Can I collect client account payments?

Yes. Payments enables you to collect payments to your client account.

Who processes the payments?

Payments are securely processed by FeeWise, our trusted legal payments partner. Your client’s data is encrypted and handled in accordance with PCI DSS standards.

What information is required to set up payments in Smokeball?

To apply, you must be an authorised principal who owns 25% or more of the firm. You’ll need to provide basic firm and identification details, along with your nominated operating and/or trust account details.

Is Smokeball Payments PCI compliant?

Yes. Payments are securely processed through FeeWise, a PCI DSS–compliant provider. Your client’s card details are encrypted and never stored in Smokeball, ensuring a secure experience for both your firm and your clients.

Where is Smokeball Payments available and who has access to this feature?

Smokeball Payments is currently available to firms in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It’s available to firms using eligible Smokeball plans. Access to apply is limited to principals who own at least 25% of the firm.
