For founder Kevin Withane, the vision was always broader than a traditional law firm.

This model allows Impact Legal to collaborate more closely with clients and partners, while also creating a more flexible environment for its consultants. It’s a structure designed for growth, with plans to expand both organically and through acquisitions to build a broader group of services around the core business.
Before Smokeball, Kevin had experience with other practice managementsystems, including Clio. While functional, it didn’t fully align with the way Impact Legal wanted to operate.
“I just didn’t love it,” he says.

“For us, the biggest opportunity is automation, particularly around onboarding and closing files. The more seamless those processes become, the more efficiently we can operate and scale, which Smokeball has helped us to do.”
Impact Legal is still in a growth phase, but already the firm is thinking strategically about how technology can support its long-term ambitions.

“We want to build something that scales,” Kevin says. “Technology plays a big role in making that possible.”

“There are so many tools now. The challenge is bringing everything together into one place,” he explains.
